The full story…
Flower Mouth is a midwest American rock band founded by musicians Gus "Eddy Gonzo" Gonzalez, Chris Koj, Blake McKean, and Jonathan Van Hecke. The band came together in 2016 in Bloomington, Indiana, where the music scene has been held in high regard by artists around the nation, known for its electric underground house shows and legendary local bar venues. The members of Flower Mouth grew up together in multi-cultural households and spent their high school years getting high and listening to bands of the 50s-90s, which led to their unique blend of psychedelic garage rock, blues, Spanish, and 50s-inspired doo-wop sounds. Finding success in the Midwest house show circuit, Flower Mouth gained recognition for their energetic performances, confessional songwriting, and distinct, genre-blending style that resonated with a growing fan base. While most Midwest venues turned to dreampop, neo-soul, and punk rock groups, Flower Mouth stood out for their unapologetic Hendrix-style jams ripe with guitar solos and improvised garage rock madness. Securing a spot at the nightclubs in the Midwest propelled Flower Mouth to become an icon among the league of up and coming performers, cementing a stage presence that was eclectic, flamboyant, and intentional… never falling short of landing in the truest spirits of rock n’ roll.
The band took a performance hiatus in 2020 at the start of the pandemic. In the following years they have recorded, mixed, and remastered two albums which are set for 2024 and 2025 release. “Flower Mouth I” and “Flower Mouth II” will showcase years of studio work from the notorious band that set the Midwest on fire and then vanished into thin air. Their return marks a milestone in the bands career as their first official release on all platforms and a testament to 7 years since their formation.
“Flower Mouth I” is set for a late 2024 release. It consists of tracks that the band wrote together while still in college. Re-recorded and remastered tracks like “Shayla” and “Perfect Stone” will be remembered and cherished by fans who followed them through the underground circuit, while new tracks like “You Don’t Wanna Be My Girl” and “Mi Amor” will reveal the rock band that’s been quietly brewing behind the scenes, ready for a bombastic debut that is long overdue.
